We are pleased to share that we now have the keys to The Victoria Centre, and work is well underway as we prepare for our open week on 2 January.
This is a significant milestone for CPM Day Care. The next stage is about turning the building from an empty space into a warm, welcoming, and practical day care centre for older adults, families, and the local community. Over the coming weeks, the builders will continue fitting out the centre, furnishings will begin to arrive, and the final details will start to come together.
Our aim is simple. We want The Victoria Centre to be a place where people feel safe, supported, valued, and genuinely welcome.
A day care centre should not feel clinical or impersonal. It should feel like somewhere people want to attend. For many people, especially those living alone, experiencing early signs of dementia, needing routine, or finding it harder to get out and about, the right day care setting can make a real difference. It can provide structure, companionship, stimulation, and reassurance for families who want to know their loved one is spending the day somewhere positive and supportive.
At a CPM Day Care Centre, the focus is on creating meaningful days. That means good food, good company, activities that people actually enjoy, and staff who take the time to understand each person. We do not believe day care should be reduced to simply “keeping people occupied”. It should support wellbeing, independence, confidence, and social connection.
As we move closer to opening, we will be sharing more information about what people can expect from The Victoria Centre. This will include sample menus, daily routines, activity ideas, photographs of the centre as it develops, and more detail about the support available. We know families will want to understand what a typical day looks like, how transport may work, what kind of meals are provided, what activities are offered, and how we support people with different needs.
Food will be an important part of the day. A good meal can bring people together, create routine, and make the centre feel homely. We will be sharing sample menus shortly so that families can see the kind of meals and refreshments we are planning to provide.
Activities will also be central to the service. These may include reminiscence sessions, music, games, arts and crafts, gentle movement, themed events, community links, and opportunities for people to continue doing the things they enjoy. Just as importantly, there will be time for conversation, rest, and informal socialising. Not everyone wants a packed timetable every day. A good day care centre should be flexible enough to support different personalities, preferences, and levels of need.
The open week on 2 January will give families, professionals, and members of the local community the chance to come and see the centre for themselves. It will be an opportunity to meet the team, ask questions, look around the building, and understand whether The Victoria Centre may be right for you or someone you care about.
